Tips and Tricks for Vinyl Beginners

Welcome to the exciting world of vinyl! If you're just starting out, there are some helpful tips and tricks to keep in mind. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of your vinyl experience:

Invest in Quality Equipment

To get the best quality end products, it's important to invest in high-quality equipment. This includes a good heat press, weeding tools, and cutting machine Don't skimp on these components, as they will make a big difference in the sound quality of your end result.

Dust and debris can significantly impact the cutting of your vinyl. Make sure to clean your cutter blade regularly with a ball of tinfoil. This will not only improve sharpness, but also extend the lifespan of your cutter. Make sure to stay organized there is many types of vinyl out there, ranging from removable and  permanent sticker vinyl and iron on vinyl - the biggest learning curve is knowing how to differentiate between the two.

Handle Your Vinyl with Care

Vinyl is more delicate than other forms of media, so it's important to handle and store your vinyl with care. Always hold them by the edges.  Additionally, make sure to store your vinyl in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources adhesive (sticker vinyl) should be stored vertically)

Experiment with Different Types

One of the joys of vinyl is the ability to enjoy a wide range of types of vinyl, solid, chrome, glitter, holographic, colour change both temperature and UV. Don't be afraid to experiment to find what you enjoy the most. You might be surprised by what you discover! an easy way to differentiate between sticker vinyl and iron on vinyl is the backing, all the sticker vinyl we sell has a paper back to it if its sticker. All the iron on vinyl we sell has a slippery carrier sheet.

*Pro tip if you have a solid colour iron on vinyl and it has a clear carrier sheet it will be Easyweed HTV, if it has a frosted opaque carrier sheet its Stretch HTV.
